The BrainCo Revo 3-21 Touch is a 21-degree-of-freedom dexterous robotic hand built on a fully direct-drive, backdrivable joint architecture, engineered for contact-rich manipulation tasks in humanoid robots and advanced automation platforms. Developed by BrainCo — a company founded at Harvard University's Center for Brain Science and holder of more than 360 patents in brain-computer interface technology — the Revo 3-21 Touch brings prosthetics-grade engineering to commercial robotic end-effectors. Every joint couples motor output directly to the finger without any gearbox or tendon transmission, so motor current serves as a direct proxy for contact force, and the hand complies naturally when objects push against it. A 500 Hz control loop supports four distinct control modes, covering 33 grasp types with a range of motion that exceeds the typical human hand's Kapandji score.

The defining capability of the Touch variant is its full-palm tactile sensing at 0.01 Newton force resolution, extending contact-awareness well beyond the fingertips to the entire palm surface. This multi-modal sensing — pressure-array data at the surface combined with torque sensing at every joint simultaneously — enables the kinds of in-hand re-orientation, tool manipulation, and delicate grasping that real-world humanoid deployment demands. The hand supports EtherCAT, CAN FD, and RS-485 communication protocols and operates across a wide 12 to 80 V supply range, making it compatible with a broad range of robot platforms and lab power sources.
