Description
The Unitree G1 Edu Standard U1 is the entry-level developer configuration in the G1 humanoid platform, designed for teaching, lab demonstrations, and research prototyping. Featuring 23 degrees of freedom and full secondary development support, this variant enables institutions to explore humanoid robotics with real hardware and modern software tooling.
This U1 configuration is supplied with dummy hands: fixed display hands, not dexterous ones. They keep the humanoid form for teaching, demonstrations and locomotion work where a gripping end effector is not needed. If you need manipulation, other G1 Edu configurations carry dexterous hands, such as the three-finger Edu Ultimate U3 or the five-finger Edu Ultimate U5.
The Edu Standard delivers enhanced performance over the Basic model, including 120 N·m peak knee torque (vs 90 N·m) and 100 TOPS GPU computing for AI workloads. With 2 m/s walking speed, depth camera and 3D LiDAR perception, and WiFi 6 / Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, the platform provides capable hardware for locomotion and perception research.
Unlike the Basic configuration, the Edu Standard includes SDK access, API documentation, and development tools enabling teams to implement custom control strategies, deploy neural network models, and integrate the G1 into broader research frameworks. This open architecture supports reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and whole-body motion planning experiments.
Standing 127 cm tall and weighing approximately 35 kg, the G1 Edu Standard U1 fits laboratory environments while providing meaningful humanoid capability. The platform serves university robotics programs, corporate R&D, and advanced STEM curricula requiring accessible bipedal hardware with development freedom.
