Fairy is Alpha Robotics' mobile digital service robot: a 23.8-inch high-definition touchscreen held at eye level on a slim “swan neck” column above a self-navigating base. It is built for lobbies and halls where visitors need greeting, answers and directions — banks, hotels, hospitals, stations, airports, schools, supermarkets, exhibition halls and corporate showrooms.

Visitors can speak to it, use the touchscreen or type. A 5-megapixel HD camera and a binocular camera support face recognition: the robot compares a face with a database you enter, identifies known visitors and welcomes them. An HD pickup microphone array takes spoken questions, which it answers from content configured for your business. When a visitor asks for a destination, Fairy leads them there, navigating by LiDAR with a 40 m range and SLAM mapping, and steering around people and obstacles on the way.

Beyond greeting, it can take on simple front-desk work, such as information enquiries, fee checks and queue calling, customised to the site, and it plays video for promotions. It also collects, stores and analyses visitor data for reporting, and an open API allows secondary development when you need functions of your own. Face recognition and visitor-data collection are regulated in many countries, so the operator is responsible for notices, consent and data retention.

The robot weighs 40 kg and measures 540 × 470 × 1,405 mm. It moves at up to 1.2 m/s and stops within 200 mm. A 20 Ah lithium battery runs the 50 W system for up to 10 hours and recharges in 3 to 4 hours, and the software runs on Android.
